Week 4 - Going no where fast. Balance - *still* £4.00

Posted in The £1 blog on November 12, 2007 by the1poundblog

Once again its time for a blog update! this weeks update shall be pretty short as, believe it or not iv pretty much done naff all this week and i have not even received one donation!

Lately I have been asked by a few people: “why should i give you a pound?” and my reply is hell, you don’t have to give me any thing! This isn’t any sort of scam and your not going to get ripped off, the only thing I’m asking for is your generosity in giving me, a one off donation, of an insignificant sum of money. If i could get another million people to also be generous and donate that same small amount, it change my life forever! yet the only you’d be missing is £1, and is that £1 really that important to you? your £1 is more important to me, or rather ALL you peoples £1’s are important to me! And hey, if do make a million, i could pay you back your £1 off the interest i earn from it, if you sent me an email id be happy to!.

THIS IS NOT A SCAM, MMK?

So once again people, this isn’t a scam, or con, or anything like that, I’m not asking you for your bank details, or to donate me £1 with a £100 hidden charge, or anything of the sort! All I’m doing is asking you to change one poor post student teenagers life by donating your spare change, that extra £1 stuck in your bank account you cant withdraw, or thous couple of coppers and 10 or 5ps sitting in a jar or in bottom of your wallet gathering dust, it could all go towards something meaningful if you, and a million people just like you, just generously donated it to a complete stranger!

Or as my long time buddy Lewis Phillips puts it in a comment on my blog post a few weeks back:

“fikerty fik fac giv me a tic tac murfayyyyyy!!!!! feee feee feeee fiiii foooo fummmmm is a kind fellow , he needs his money 2 drink on his own day in day out hiding from work and others who r better that him …..JOKE thats not murf , just pay the man or il crush ur head in a vice n brake ur wind pipe wiv an axxxx!”

So to avoid your eyes suddenly being brought closer together and your windpipe being violated with an “axxxx” Donate a pound via paypal today

Wow, well that went on longer then i was expecting so without further-a-doo heres:

Week 3 - Better late then never.Balance-£4.00

Posted in The £1 blog on November 6, 2007 by the1poundblog

Yes, I know its a Tuesday and I’m late updating the blog! So, sorry to all of you.

The Balance the week has been upped to a grand total of £4.00! so thanks to my girlfriend for the extra 27p paypal charged me, and Mr.Mike Davies for giving me a pound last night, and don’t forget you can also Donate a pound via paypal!

Eventful week

Its been a pretty eventful week with a wedding, haloween, and bonfire night yesterday (the reasons why i didn’t update.) so ill try and keep this weeks round up as short as sweet as possible.

Last Tuesday i attended a ‘ Horror Film night’ at a student bar in Cardiff with my student girlfriend and her student buddys where i enjoyed beer and free popcorn:

beer and popcorn

(looking very happy with my beer and popcorn)

Sadly as it turns out we where only aloud to watch one film as the barmaid was only being paid till 11 o’clock after which the bar needed to close. Despite this the night was still good laugh as we watched Bad Taste a low budget cult classic from 1987, highly recommended if you haven’t seen it and love cheap gory B movies.

During the rest of the week nothing really worth typing about happened even on Halloween it was pretty quiet night with more police on the beat then trick or treaters. Friday I attended Rob and Elizabeth Walkers wedding! Which was a ruddy good old time. So congratulations to Rob and Elizabeth

And then, bonfire night! The only time of the year you can set of large amounts of explosives without causing a major terror alert. After watching the displays from the local sea side resort of Barry Island me and several of my mates where to go and let of our own fireworks, however Lewis Phillips neglected to fill up his car with petrol, and most the night was spent sat at the side of the road drinking the stash of beer i brought along whiles we awaited rescue from some one with a petrol can.

Checking out the competition

Now into the 3rd week of my scheme to become a millionaire and still perhaps unsurprisingly no where near a million, iv decided to go and check out what other people, organizations, websites etc.. do to get the public to donate to them, and how it could help me make a million.

Wikimedia Foundation

Wikipeida is a site i use pretty often when searching for quick information and as some of you might of notice, iv linked to it pretty often whiles writing blogs. Only 15,572 people have donated to wikipedia, which diminishes my optimism a bit that such a large popular site that is used by millions a day only had 15,572 donations and here i am trying to get a million people to give me a pound! Although by looking at this page it looks like I’m on the right track with using a tag line (one million people, one pound, one man) as well as quote on my page title!

Oxfam

Yes, Oxfam. These guys get people to give them money so they can fight poverty and hunger and all the other nasty stuff around the world. They also seem to like tapping on peoples sympathy nerve by showing lots of pictures of children being all poor and stuff. So perhaps i could use the same tactic to get people to donate to me!

child

(Yes that is me, back in more innocent times)

RSPCA

These guys help animals, and they don’t recieve any funding from the government so donations is what there really after to cover the £95million a year running costs! Similar the Oxfam dudes they litter there site with not starving children, but fluffy kittens and puppy’s. Inspired by this i have come up with a new slogan:

kitten
